Program Goals: The overall purpose of our program is to expand the number of pediatricians and other health professionals who range from competent to expert in the assessment and management of problems in child development, child behavior, family functioning, and psychosocial medicine, and other issues in the domain of developmental-behavioral pediatrics.

Special Features: The Child Devleopment Unit is a busy and exciting setting in which to learn the clinical skills of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.  Rotations in Child Neurology and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry are part of the core program.  Weekly contact with the core faculty in a Professional Development Series creates a supportive learning environment.  The fellows participate in the courses and clinics of the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities project at the University of PIttsburgh and the Children's Hospital of PIttsburgh.  The University of PIttsburgh provides a rich array of research opportunities.  Research seminars are held in conjunction with General Academic Pediatrics and General Internal Medicine.  Opportunities for leadership include coordinating the Child Development Unit case conference series, teaching medical students and residents, interaction with community-based organizations and particiapting in policy discussions at many levels.
